Haven Foundation

Funding early-stage conceptual thinking for high risk ideas.

Grant Framework

Through philanthropy we will provide early-stage research grants to scientists, engineers, innovators and thought-leaders who share a long-term vision for humanity and want to be free from subject matter constraints, academic expectations, and/or commercial pressure.

Grants will be available to associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students from leading institutions.

Broadly we will work within the auspices of the United Nations and specifically The Pact For The Future which includes The Global Digital Compact, and The Declaration On Future Generations. These crucial declarations lay new foundations for a sustainable, just and peaceful world.

A Different Funding Approach

SOCIAL UTILITY ONLY

Early-stage research grants will be awarded to investigators who have notable academic, intellectual, and scientific backgrounds or students at leading universities. Grants will not be restricted to a specific subject matter and can use interdisciplinary thinking. Grants will be awarded based on the overall utility of the idea or concept, not commercial potential.

HIGH-RISK PROJECTS

Innovation and discovery often come from risk. Therefore we will fund high-risk projects with significant potential. We will also fund projects that may have lost funding and need to be continued. We will provide potential Grant Recipients with an application process that is transparent, straightforward and provides a decision within a matter of weeks.

IP CONSIDERATIONS

We are creating a context for innovation and experimentation that is solutions focused and will not be restricted by Intellectual Property (IP) considerations. If a new idea, early-stage conceptual research, is funded by the Haven Foundation any IP will be owned by the Grant Recipient.

Guidelines for funding submissions will be published soon.
