Haven Campus

A new context for innovation, collaboration and consilience.

Purpose

We are planning to build a series of small live/work campuses for scientists, innovators, and thought leaders at locations in the US and Europe. Each Haven Campus will host Innovation Workshops and Symposiums and provide accommodation for research fellows, innovators, and contributing thought-leaders.

Our intention is to create shared environments for people from multiple disciplines to provide fertile ground for invention through collaboration.

In addition to people from the pure sciences and technology we will also host visitors from the social sciences, humanities, and the creative arts to promote interdisciplinary approaches to the problems we face

Interdisciplinary Solutions

THE PROXIMITY EFFECT

The campuses will be established in both urban and rural settings by adapting existing buildings, creating new low-cost structures, and/or using prefabricated modular architecture. The campuses will utilize environmentally conscious, sustainable, and efficient building methods, as well as utilize the best emerging practices in architecture, interior design, and sustainability.

EMERGING PRACTICES

Creating a context for people from multiple disciplines is vital to achieving the proximity effect that stimulates new ideas. To create and maintain safe environments we will be inclusive of all people irrespective of race, gender, belief, or socio-economic background. Our work is informed by science, guided by morality and motivated by compassion.

INNOVATION HISTORY

The history of innovation is one of discovery born from unexpected collaborations, the co-mingling of new and old ideas and when past failures are looked at from new perspectives. The optimal way to achieve this is by creating a network of environments, safe havens where brilliant minds can meet and work together.

Online Network

To support Haven Campus we establish an invitation only online network as a safe private forum for discussion and community building. We will carefully select and invite participants based on their careers, perspectives and ideas. We will embrace scientists, engineers, innovators and academics based on the quality of their ideas and not on the quantity of papers and citations they might have amassed. We will purposefully seek out brilliant minds capable of challenging the status quo, who’s contributions have been undervalued compared to those with more conventional academic and scientific career histories.
